Last May, ARTE Concert — as part of the Monumental Concerts - From the Pantheon to Mount Olympus — headed to Brussels with Kendal, Zaatar and Barnt who set up their turntables in the Atomium, at the heart of Visual System's works, for a unique live score.
Three wild sets transformed the emblematic monument of Brussels into a real electro club.
Built in 1958, on the occasion of the Brussels World's Fair, the Atomium was supposed to be ephemeral. However, it has become an essential building in the Brussels landscape, like the Eiffel Tower in Paris and the Colosseum in Rome.
While being an integral part of Brussels' heritage, the Atomium is resolutely turned towards the future. This electro evening is proof of this, with the performances of three European DJs and producers: Barnt (Germany), master of an innovative and hypnotic techno, Kendal (France) who elegantly fuses italo-disco and EBM, Zaatar (Belgium-Morocco) and his EBM mixed with post-punk and oriental influences. This trio demonstrates the immense diversity of electronic music while taking you into the different spaces of the astonishing architecture.
This club evening is sublimated by the light works of Visual System who had carte blanche to invest the bowels of the Atomium.
A unique encounter between art & technologies, electronic music & architecture.
